Exoskeleton
Cooks have exoskeletons. They're like lobsters in a way. They may be the first to snap at you, but it's only because inside they are huge softies and terrified of anyone discovering their secrets. Also, it's better, more humane, to kill them outright than to boil them to death.
Honesty is something we value in the kitchen, and more and more it's becoming something I value intensely in my personal life. As much as I hate the word no, I would rather someone tell me their honest no, honest reasons, than letting me down easy. I have mad respect for the men in my life and the ladies too who say no and here's why instead of creating a bed of roses for my landing.
My life hasn't been particularly easy, but it's been good. Sometimes I take wild leaps of faith and expose my soft underbelly to the waiting world. Most of the time, I get hurt when I do so. I was born sensitive, so it's no one's fault. However, if you find yourself face to face with a softer me, please, please, please, be kind by bringing your authentic self and your own truth: your honesty. Because honestly, I am bored to death of the easy let down. Your lines are killing me. Tell me something I have not already heard.
From one lobster to the rest of the world, I will be in the kitchen where the rules make sense for now. ;)
